About Us

Oregon City Restaurant and Wine Bar
Our Story

Nebbiolo Restaurant & Wine Bar began development during the spring of 2012 when the aspiring restaurant owners Joe & Yvette Kirwin returned from a month long trip in Italy. After indulging in the Italian way of life, the couple decided to begin the hunt to find a space & open their very first restaurant.

Eventually, after many months of planning & idea development, Joe found a corner space at 8th & Main Street in Downtown Oregon City. What used to be a corner show room in the Busch’s Furniture Store was renovated into Nebbiolo Restaurant & Wine Bar. Joe & Yvette tore down three layers of ceilings, ripped out the white carpet to uncover the wood floors & discovered the original brick walls that were built in the late 1800’s.

This space is actually home of early day Portland brewer Henry Weinhard. The beer maker stored his brews & ran a small tavern in this very space. Henry Weinhard actually milled these floors himself.

Developing Nebbiolo was not just a matter of uncovering the history of the space, but also a project in creating a warm & welcoming environment. So Joe & Yvette gathered up the family, and with an incredible amount of effort & creativity, the restaurant began to unfold; sons, daughters, uncles, aunts & grandparents all pitched in their talents with carpentry, painting, pottery, and menu development. All that was left to do was to fill the space with food, wine, spirits, beers, tables, chairs & soon, customers.

The restaurant was completed in July 2013, and with a line out the door, Nebbiolo was officially open for business on June 1, 2013.

Tri Met and the train station are all within walking distance. Historic Oregon City is a great place to explore!

Great live, local musicians perform while some of our patrons have been known to sing along!
